Twisted Network Programming Essentials is a real book

Posted by Abe on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 @ 5:15 pm

Last week I opened a FedEx package to find a real, printed copy of my new book, Twisted Network Programming Essentials. It was a single preview copy, hot off the presses. Bulk shipments are happening now - I should get the rest of my author’s copies soon, and TNPE should be making its way into bookstores. Already it’s listed as in-stock at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Get your copy while they’re hot!

  4. Noticed that there’s still no TOC on the O’Reilly website. Any chance of getting them to rectify this or putting one up somewhere yourself.

  5. Got my book yesterday and have been working with it. This is EXACTLY what I was needing to get me up to speed on Twisted. I just don’t have the time to pour over HTML docs, etc. I like concise info in a book format. Abe’s Twisted book is getting me up to speed now without the fluff, just the good stuff I want. Thanks Abe!

  7. Just got my copy. I’m just through ch 4 but so far it looks very good. Congratulations!

However, I don’t find the examples available on the O’Reilly page. Do I have to subscribe to Safari to get them?

  8. According to an Amazon.com review, the table of contents are:

    Getting Started
    Building Simple Clients and Servers
    Web Clients
    Web Servers
    Web Services and RPC
    Authentication
    Mail Clients
    Mail Servers
    NNTP Clients and Servers
    SSH
    Services, Processes, and Logging.

    Hope this helps.

  9. Hey guys,

The full TOC (including the topics within each chapter) can be viewed through Safari Books Online. It’s free - you don’t need a Safari account.

  11. I’m running through the sample code and noticed that Example 5-5. soap_server.py has an import statement for rest_wiki. However, there is no such example code - and I think the RootResource being imported is supposed to be the one in wiki.py.

BTW Where should I submit book issues like this? I didn’t see anywhere in my Safari account!
